The Big Bear fire has scorched more than 20 square miles in the San Bernardino Mountains south of Big Bear Lake, with only 10% containment as of this morning. Some 400 structures were threatened by the Lake Fire, prompting mandatory evacuations and air quality problems. The loss of structures also prompts insurance claims. http://www.iii.org/article/how-much-homeowners-insurance-do-i-need The drought-driven fire consumed thousands of trees as it moved east through forestland, in an area where no fires have been reported in 104 years of recording-keeping. http://www.fs.fed.us/gsearch/big%2Bbear%2Bfire
