Fires / Unhealthy Air / Structure Insurance

The Big Bear fire has scorched more than 20 square miles in the San Bernardino Mountains south of Big Bear Lake, with only 10% containment as of this morning. Some 400 structures were threatened by the Lake Fire, prompting mandatory evacuations and air quality problems.  The loss of structures also prompts insurance claims.  The drought-driven fire consumed thousands of trees as it moved east through forestland, in an area where no fires have been reported in 104 years of recording-keeping.
The US Forest Service urges people to stay inside due to the smoke causing unhealthy air quality in the eastern San Bernardino Mountains area, Coachella Valley and portions of Eastern Riverside County.
